The City is now hiring for the following positions.

Utility Maintenance Worker.  The City of Sedgwick seeks a maintenance worker in our Public Works Department to fill a Full-time vacancy.  This individual will perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks in the maintenance, repair and construction of roadways, public utilities, parks and other public facilities; uses hand tools, power hand tools, and operates light equipment in the course of work; assists with routine maintenance, repair or construction tasks to support the functions of a division in a City Department.

Though candidates without experience will be considered, an ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, have experience maintaining and repairing waterline infrastructure, and be comfortable operating various types of heavy machinery.

Education, experience & other requirements:  Graduate from a accredited high school or GED.  A valid Kansas Driver's license.

Compensation & Benefits:  Compensation will be based on experience and skill set.  The City of Sedgwick provides generous health, dental and vision insurance along with vacation days, sick leave, on-call pay, KPERS retirement and a cell phone stipend.

Utility Maintenance Worker II.  The City of Sedgwick, Kansas, is seeking qualified applicants for the Full-time position of Utility Maintenance Worker II, under direction of the City Administrator and/or City Superintendent.  

The starting hourly wage is dependent upon experience and qualifications.  Benefits include vacation and sick leave, holiday pay, KPERS retirement, generous health insurance, dental, vision, and a cell phone stipend plus on-call compensation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Preferred qualifications include:  High school education or equivalent, valid driver's license, Commercial Class B CDL with air brake endorsement, KDHE Class II Wastewater Certification, and general mechanical aptitude.  Supervisorial experience is highly desirable.
