On Monday, Feb. 24, former Maize Senior High School standouts Brynley Smith and Kennedy Topping’s current college team, the Emporia State Hornets, won 3-2 in their NCAA Division II softball game against the Minot State Beavers.

The game took place at Gahnstrom Field. This was their first matchup against the Beavers this season.

The Hornets’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, March 1 at 4 p.m. at Mid-America Sports Complex against Minnesota State Mavericks.
