On Saturday, March 1, former Maize Senior High School standouts Brynley Smith and Kennedy Topping’s current college team, the Emporia State Hornets, won 5-4 in their NCAA Division II softball game against the Minnesota State Mavericks.

The game took place at Mid-America Sports Complex. This was their second matchup against the Mavericks this season.

The Hornets’ next game is scheduled for Sunday, March 2 at 12:30 p.m. at Mid-America Sports Complex against Augustana Vikings.
