On Saturday, Feb. 8, former Maize Senior High School standouts Brynley Smith and Kennedy Topping’s current college team, the Emporia State Hornets, lost 4-3 in their NCAA Division II softball game against the UT Tyler Patriots.

The game took place at Bentonville High School. This was their first matchup against the Patriots this season.

The Hornets’ next game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 9 at 12 p.m. at Memorial Park against Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders.
