5.5% of Sedgwick County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Sedgwick County recorded an unemployment rate of 5.5% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 14,734 people out of the 520,467 living in Sedgwick County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Sedgwick County has increased compared to the 5.1% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Sedgwick County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 4%.

Of the 252,588 people who had a job during that time, 2,777 were employed in the Armed Forces and 249,811 belonged to the civilian labor force.
