Men's and Women's Tennis both selected third in respective KCAC Coaches' Preseason Polls

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2023 KCAC Men's and Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Polls on Tuesday.

Both Thresher squads were selected to finish third by the coaches in the conference.

In the men's poll, McPherson was selected first receiving all 10 of the possible first place votes and 110 points. Southwestern narrowly edged out Bethel receiving McPherson's first place vote and 94 points. The Threshers earned 90 points. Ottawa and Kansas Wesleyan rounded out the top five receiving 82 and 81 points.

Tabor was sixth with 63 points, Evangel was 7th with 50 points, Sterling was eighth with 46 points, Oklahoma Wesleyan was ninth with 44 points, Bethany tenth with 35 points, Friends eleventh with 18 points and Saint Mary rounded out the poll in twelfth receiving 13 points.

The women's poll also saw McPherson at the top, although there was more disparity with first place votes. The Bulldogs finished with 106 points and six first place votes while Southwestern finished with 105 points and five first place votes. The Threshers were in the third slot earning 89 points. Ottawa and Evangel rounded out the top five in the women's poll as the Braves received 81 points and the Valor 76.

Kansas Wesleyan was selected sixth with 62 points, Bethany seventh with 47 points, Sterling eighth with 45 points, Tabor ninth with 39 points, Friends tenth with 36 points, Oklahoma Wesleyan eleventh with 30 points, while Saint Mary rounded out the poll in twelfth receiving 10 points.

Both Thresher squads are set to open their spring season with an exhibition match against NCAA Division II Emporia State on February 8th in Emporia, Kan.
