Reimer joins county commission

Becky Reimer took the oath of office to become the Harvey County commissioner for District 1 during the Harvey County Commission's Jan. 9 meeting.

District 1 includes Walton, parts of Newton and much of eastern Harvey County. Ninth Judicial District Chief Judge Marilyn Wilder delivered the oath of office for Reimer.

This is Reimer's first term as county commissioner. She was elected to the position this past November to fill the seat previously held by George "Chip" Westfall, who retired from the position after 16 years.

"I just want to say thank you so much for electing me to be in this position," Reimer said. "It's an honor to be on this side of the table, working for the county, working for the citizens. I don't take this job lightly."

Reimer was elected for a four-year term.

The Harvey County Commission regularly holds meetings each Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Harvey County Courthouse.
