The resurfacing project on Hesston Road is anticipated to move into its third stage the week of Aug. 22. Along with it, the portion of the road included in the second stage is scheduled to reopen.
The second stage of road work includes the roadway from Northwest 48th Street to the Hesston city limits. Shoulder work, permanent striping and permanent signing on that section will begin later this week and is projected to be completed early next week, and upon completion, will reopen Hesston Road in full between the Hesston and Newton city limits.
Road work will next progress northwest of Hesston. The third stage of the improvement project includes West Dutch Avenue to Northwest 108th Street. That section of road will be closed to traffic in both directions during the project. Drivers are encouraged to plan an alternate route.
After work is completed in the third stage, the resurfacing project will next move to work inside the Hesston city limits.
Homeowners and businesses will continue to have access to their properties throughout.
The improvement project began March 14. The entirety of the project is anticipated to be completed in December.
Pearson Construction is the primary contractor for the project.
